Our A Blog Named Hero teammate Kelly just had a baby BOY! Welcome Baby Nathanial!!! So we are having a baby shower of sorts. I found this elephant via Laura Bassen who found this via the Silhouette! The stamp is Hero Arts :)
So I thought it would be fun to share with you what I thought the minute I saw my 4 babies:
1. Sophia: "Oh she is so cute!" I didn't know what my baby would look like, since she was my first, so I was pleasantly surprised.
2. Bennett: "He is so white!" Ben also had blue eyes (they turned hazel like his daddy). I just assumed a tan lady would have tan children, but genetics doesn't quite work like that.
3. Anya: "She is so hairy and pretty!" Her hair shed and she is still so very pretty :)
4. Karina: "She looks like a mouse, specifically Stewart Little!" She now looks just like my mother, its kind of special to see a reminder of my mom every day.
Did you have any thoughts you specifically remember when you saw your baby for the first time?
such a cute card! I had a similar reaction when I saw Sofia for the first time! With Thomas, it was: I didn't know a baby could come out looking like an old, wrinkly man - hana! and Maia was a tiny little button of a baby - I remember thinking she looked so small and cute.
ReplyDeleteAdorable ellie! When I first saw my older daughter: "Gosh, she looks like my mother in law!" (Dad's genes) And when I saw my second daughter for the first time: "Wow, she's huge!" (she was 8lbs. 2ozs.)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card with that adorable PP elephant. My first thoughts of my daughter was where are her eyes. Her face was swollen from such a hard labor....but she was and still is a cutie! My son...my first thought...now my family is complete...no more babies...hehe
ReplyDeleteOh my CUTE....love that sweet ellie!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you cracked me up..."He is so white!"
My girl, who is 18 now was huge {for me}, 7 lbs 7 oz. I was the last to know in the room that she was a girl..HA, I thought she was thee most beautiful baby girl, and still do♥♥.
My boy, who is 15, looked like an old Japanese man..LOL...I can say that since he's my baby and he has made up for it...cutest boy ever:)
What a sweet elephant, great die and I so love your card. Your comments are priceless.
ReplyDeleteMy son, my first was 9 lb 15, huge he looked about 6 months old, but I thought he was the most beautiful child in the world and all mine. My second was my daughter, she was tiny and had no meat on her not the cutest baby, but she was my girl. I didn't know how sick she actually was until she was 2 1/2 months and went into congestive heart failure. She was a fighter, won and still is.
What a gorgeous card!! My first thoughts on Theo were as follows: Wow!! This baby is huge(8 lbs, 10 oz)...lol!!, He is soooooooo gorgeous and I just fell in LOVE!!! I LURVE that kid!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWida, did you write down those thoughts somewhere? Because how could you possibly remember?! (I am not being sarcastic) you see, I am trying to remember what my first thought was...and I only had one baby!
ReplyDeleteThat elephant! Super cute and love the busy patterned paper you chose for it :-) this design is perfect for when you need one in a hurry.
After much thought, here is what I remember: she is so tiny and cute! I remember marveling at her little hands and feet for a long time. Plus I was surprised her eyes weren't squinty...as she was staring at me with googly eyes, just like the ones you have on your elefan :D
Cuuuuute! Gorgeous paper choice. Loved your first baby thoughts. Here goes for me: No1 - skinny old main (bald head and ring of strawberry blonde hair!), No2 - so pretty almost not like a newborn at all, No3 - is he healthy? we had some difficulties so knowing he was alright was first on my mind. I've got an awful memory but those first thoughts for me were easy to recall :)
ReplyDeleteAn adorable baby card, Kelly will love it! Your first baby thoughts made me smile, my only thoughts with both of mine was 'thank goodness that's over!' Lol
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! You crack me up with your thoughts. I think my first thought with Ellie was that her hair was very cool (she had highlights), and with Carina it was that she was so red.
ReplyDeleteI love the paper you used for your elephant! Such a sweet card. My first daughter looks just like my husband, so even though she came out of me, I wasn't quite sure she was mine! Still today, she is just like her daddy, it's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the paper!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the elephant. They eye--it's so cute!! You're cracking me up with your thoughts. With my daughter, it was similar--she's so pretty! Look at the cheeks! With my son, it was more like "I promise he's yours!" to my husband. My husband is Norwegian and my son had black hair, tan skin, and he was super hairy. hee hee
ReplyDeleteThat PP makes your card uber adorable. As for first thoughts, won't surprise you that mine took a different turn... DD had been putting pressure on me "down there" for so long that when she finally popped out (4 p.m. called hubby to take me to the hospital, 6 p.m. she was there!) my first words were "Oh that feels so good!!" Whoddathunkit?
ReplyDeleteYou make me laugh so much! Firstly, I adore the card - the elephant looks so cute with that paper and the ear sticking out! Secondly, both my 'bubs' came relatively quickly, as in I was fully dilated quickly so no drugs, but then hours of pushing! So I was more grateful about them being out than what they looked like! BTW my daughter looks like her Scottish Dad and my son looks olive skinned like me. Anyhow, I'm sure you didn't want that much detail. but you did ask!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so stinking adorable! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, Wida!
ReplyDeleteI laughed as I read your descriptions.... too funny!
With my first son, after pushing for 3 hours, I was expecting a cone-head baby, but when I saw him and his lovely round head, I declared: "He's perfect!"
With my second, when I called my mom to tell her the news, she said: "And is he perfect?" "Well...." "What's wrong with him?" she asked. "He's got hair on his forehead," I said, "and all of the kids at school are going to tease him." (Thankfully, the hair on his forehead went away!)
And for my daughter, who came out with one push: "She's blue!" Her face was bruised from the delivery--- I thought she looked like she was wearing a superhero mask!
Looove that sweet elephant!!!! Love this fun post! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cutey card with such a cutey little elephant! Love how he is paper pieced with a totally unexpected colour palette/pattern choice!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your initial thoughts/words on your babies, really sweet and touching!
Thud... that was my heart... falling in love... with my son.
ReplyDeleteCatching up on comments....
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this card- holy sweetness! The simplicity is so perfect
