A Project From Scratch

I'm on the Crate Paper Blog today with a project from scratch.

You know, I have never made a project from scratch. Just me and my crafty supplies with no instant help from any ready made items. It was quite fun actually. Let me show you what I made.

I wanted to make something special for a fellow crafty friend and hand made embellishments seemed like the perfect idea. I took out some of my favorite Crate Paper goodies and got to work keeping in mind the color scheme this month of Emerald, Gold, and Pink.

My supplies included:

  • Kraft with gold polka dot paper from Style Board
  • Pink patterned paper from Oh Darling
  • Flower dies
  • Card stock
  • Gold twine
  • Crate Paper Style Board flair
  • Wood veneers

I started by making the embellishment (TUTORIAL HERE).

I made a matching box to put them in using my Silhouette-Design #41611. I did make sure I used extra firm tape to secure the box. Regular tape would not be strong enough. I chose this particular shape box to be able to see the handmade items better.

I love the idea of the little pretties all nestled together on display!  To create the crinkle paper, I watched THIS tutorial. So far, my project was pretty easy to do...phew! To adorn the top of the box, I simply cut some scraps of paper and glued them on the gold twine like a banner. For a few, I did use the bow die from Style Board because it had the perfect banner shape.

I made a matching card using one of the embellishments so they all coordinated and the recipient could see how I used the gift too!  I watercolored white paper a shade of Emerald/Blue and adhered a die cut on top. If you don't have a plate, the silhouette has some options also, like THIS one.

Seeing them all together makes me happy. They coordinate, are such a beautiful color combination and have the feminine touch I was going for.

My Shoes Fart..and A Card

PB Hugs and Kisses

Hey Everybody! I feel like I am making one card to everyone else's 5. Oh well, I shouldn't compare right?

I made this card using some left over scraps from other projects. I felt happy that I didn't let my die cuts go to waste :) and I still love gold.

So I bought another pair of shoes. Lately I been looking at my closet and realizing I dress kinda frumpy. SOOO, gonna work on that. Life is such a juggle sometimes. Between remembering to put my night cream on and exercising and all that, aging just seems like a bunch of work!

Oh, here are my shoes...

The only issue is that they fart. NO that's not a typo. When I walk they make a farting noise and I am not sure what the cure for this issue is?! Any ideas?

Your Friendship Means So Much

Well I have been happy creating lately. I got some new zing embossing powders and the colors made me happy, so I think that translated in my card.  Been thinking a lot about how wonderful my friends are and how much I appreciate them and this is the result.

PB Your Friendship

This Penny Black background stamp is full of poppies, a flower I am partial to :) Can you have too many flower stamps?

Thanks Lyndall! I am going to enter this on A Blog Named Hero create your own background!

Mimi Two Ways... Twice the Fun!

Hi Everybody!

I thought I would play a challenge. I saw Fusion Challenge because Michelle on the DT used a Mimi stamp on her card and well, here I am! Here's a funny story...gather round.

See, I craft with my kids, mainly because they follow me around wherever I go. One day when I was deep in thought, they got into my gold paper and die cuts. Now this stuff is precious to me, almost like the real thing. Boy did I holler! Then mid yell, I looked down and saw this darling gold balloon.

Hmmm...thanks girls for the idea!

PB Blue Mimi

The scarf around her neck looked like a POP of gold to me. I actually see gold in my mind a lot. I think because I am infatuated with all things gold so even though it's a scarf, it looks like gold to me! Here is the photo.

and why stop with 1 Mimi? that would be awful! So I made another, this one is pretty easy to mass produce for birthday invitations too.

Wish Big

I tried some copic coloring. Unfortunately, Mimi looks like she needs to wash her face, but hey, she's a fun kid! Well folks that's it for me today! I will see you next time.
