A Card Maker without any Cards and some Cards Humor

Ever make a ton of cards and give them away thinking you got plenty more and then need one and have NONE?! So I sat down and made a bunch of much needed cards. Here is the first of a few more that I will be showing in the weeks to come.

Heartfelt thanks

I found a new challenge and well this is perfect. Darnell started a challenge which is supposed to help you open up those wonderful stamps and get to inking! It's called NBUS (never before used schtuff) and the theme this week is friendship.

I was sent this deliciously cute set for Avery Elle by JJ Bolton herself! How I wanted to ink it up and never got to until now. The set is called Red & Goldie. I made another card using this set and Sophia, my 10 year old wanted to color the little girl so she colored the one above. Then she just LEFT it on the table. I noticed it and thought she was cute...so here she is. I was not allowed to post it unless I specifically gave her credit. Sheesh!

Here is the other card I made with the cutie pie...

Birthday Wishes

I can't get over her cuteness, how her braids just poke out so perfectly. LOL!

So back to studying for me. There is so much to learn and I am enjoying every single minute. It is everything I imagined the job to be! I am going to leave you with some Cardiology humor!

  2. I haven't inked up that stamp set, either! Maybe I should join Darnell's challenge.
LOVE that Sophia colored Red in blues and you colored her in pinks! So cute!

  10. Super sweet cards, Wida! Your daughter did a great job colouring!
I totally had that happen to me with my cards.... I bagged up a whole bunch to sell at a local store, then this morning, I thought I should bring a thank you card along to give to the director of the kids program my kids attend on Saturday mornings.... and realized that I don't have any thank you cards on hand! Ack!

  16. Hahaha! I love that cartoon!

Well, Wida, I think your artist diva daughter did a better job of coloring Goldie than you did! And you can tell her I said that and then watch her head expand like a balloon. And then she'll tell you that you have to repeat my comment in a future post! I know her, that girl, I used to be her! (Okay, I didn't mean to scare you THAT much!)

I admire your talent for design and execution! You need some cards, you see the little image, you whip up an outstanding design to showcase her. Think she's cute? How about another? No problem. You think you'll use plaid this time because Darnell gets weak in the knees over plaid. Did your process go anything like that? (Okay, honest, I'm not really in your head.)

Thank you for joining in my NBUS Challenge and spreading the word! It means the world to me!! I wish you continued success with your studies and your new job. I'm delighted to hear that you are loving it! Hugs, Darnell

  18. How adorable, Wida!! I love these cards. I so know what you mean about giving all the cards away, though. I realized I had no thank you's last week when I went to write one out. I had no time to make any and actually had to use a PRE MADE card. I felt horrible.
    Good luck on your studying!!

  19. #1 WOW goes to Sophia for her outstanding colouring on Goldie! Beautiful shading on her outfit; fabulous striped tights and those red shoes are perfect, as are the rosy cheeks. Totally amazing! #2 WOW to you showcasing Goldie a second time. Indeed a cutie and yes, those braids are darling! My family has just left after visiting for the weekend, so visiting your post has made "Aunty C" feel a whole bunch better. Your Goldie looks remarkable like my niece! Your cartoon: hahahahahaha! Thank you immensely for bringing a smile!! Hugs~c

  25. Hi Wida - thanks SOOOOO much for your baby bear story! Bears...scary! One of the women I work with, and her Park Ranger husband, were chasing a bear out. of. town. the other evening, because it had ambled its way into a neighbourhood not far from ours!! EEEK! Too close for comfort. I don't think they were very successful as she said it climbed a tree and was going nowhere! On to more gentle creatures - and to answer your question- butterflies. The butterfly is from Clearly Besotted. I embossed it then coloured each segment with my 'huge' (okay, 12 colours total) stash of Copics. I don't have enough colours to actually 'shade' so I just add more of the same colour to 'try' to emulate shading. That's why I stick to 'itty bitty' images if I use Copics. Someday, a lottery win will see me ordering every colour made! Happy Saturday, wonderful Wida - and thank you for the 'sparkle added to my day' visit!! ~c

  26. Hahaha, I always love coming to your blog. So happy that your new job is working out and you are thriving. I had to look twice when you said your 10 year-old colored the girl on your first card! Way to pass on your crafting skills, there! Adorable cards ... that plaid is so charming.
